Qualifications and Summary of Experience

Residential and commercial custom painting (both full-time and part-time) since 1990. New construction and renovations. Also provide make-ready services for apartments and retirement communities, real estate property management and hotel kitchenette upgrades and installations.

Currently Self-Employed and owner of FM Décors CO., (Formally Advantage Painting and Decorating Co.) - Grand Rapids, MI, January 1993 to January 2024. Provider of residential and commercial painting and non-structural remodeling as a small business owner, or as a direct-hire employee with small to large companies. Over 25 years-experience in architectural painting, wood finishing, home design, blueprints and construction codes. Projects and worksites included offices, condos, apartment communities, factories, hotels, night clubs, banks, hospitals, retail showrooms, government buildings and historic preservations.

I provide services directly to the homeowner, business owner, or as a hired project employee, or as a painting sub-contractor by submitting an invoice for work completed. I have no hired employees and currently registered with a Kent County D.B.A. Business Registration Certificate and General Liability Insurance. I'm positive and success oriented and can usually find solutions to any problem! I also specialize in sharp hand-painted cut lines by brush, tight masking techniques and touch-ups through feathering techniques or masking.

I'm detailed oriented, keep a clean job site, vacuum floors, sanitize hardware, and when completed, move furniture or equipment back into place when required, and enjoy helping my clients exceed their goals!

Hard hats, masks and gloves are sometimes required on commercial construction projects when required, and power washing exteriors or commercial floors when needed to clean surfaces before coating.

Extensive experience in painting and wood finishing in over 100 single family homes, condominiums, cottages, shops and garages including several GRHBA Parade Homes. Experience in driving company trucks and/or delivery vans from the paint store (or warehouse) to many job site locations with supplies and equipment.

I've also driven and operated many different models of scissor lifts, forklifts, boom-lifts and aerial platforms and can operate and clean both airless and conventional paint sprayers including HVLP's.

I've also applied various wood stains, glazes and fine finishes in custom built homes (and offices) on many different types of woods and products including base boards, window trim, crown moldings, fireplace mantels, staircase spindles, handrails, kitchen cabinets, doors, windows, built-in bookshelves, display cabinets, library wall panels, tables, ceiling beams including custom built furniture, table lamps, display units, entertainment centers, audio speakers, etc., including the spraying (or brushing) of clear coats with many different types of sealers and tinted glazes including epoxy, varnish, polyurethanes, peelable booth coats and lacquers.

I also provide caulking, wall and ceiling texturing, drywall repairs, drywall priming, masking and sanding, and can recommend unique specialty-paints and industrial-coatings for various types of plastics, tile, metals, aluminum and roofing materials including shingles

I also design and apply graphics on office and building walls (including custom vinyl stickers, logos and hand-painted signs by projection or handmade pounce patterns) when needed.

I enjoy working by myself, as a team member or project manager and have clear communication skills including blueprint reading, component specifications, MSDS, OSHA and job site safety ethics, estimation experience, supply ordering, equipment experience, management skills, including multitasking and daily priority checklists and meetings when required.

I also have top-notch security clearance checks, I’m rock solid dependable and have many job references available from a wide range of happy clients, suppliers and customers.
